ABOUT MICHELLE

College Counseling Associates (formerly College Counseling Service) has been a fixture in Menlo Park since the late 1980s. Michelle joined the company in 1999, became Co-Director in 2001, and sole director in 2019. Previously the office was located at 724 Oak Grove Avenue and is now located at 845 Oak Grove Avenue—just down the street!

Michelle attended Tufts University in Boston and always loved visiting family and friends on college campuses all over the country. After living and working in Spain, she began to help international friends who were applying to undergraduate and graduate programs. She also worked in the admissions office and international student services at her graduate school and later with a federal college counseling program. Michelle has a background in social work, which sparked her desire to compassionately guide teens through this unique time in their lives.

With Michelle’s experience living in different parts of the U.S., she can help students imagine how they will fit in with diverse regional cultures. She visits colleges across the country and connects with admissions officers to stay on top of the latest policies and trends. Michelle is also fluent in Spanish and familiar with the European education system.

Over the years Michelle has shared her knowledge and provided training at numerous schools, organizations, and companies, including Lydian Academy, National Charity League, Young Men’s Service League, Korean Mothers Clubs, Girl Scout troops, local middle and high school PTAs, Silicon Valley Korean School, Redwood City Library, and Harker School DECA Club, just to name a few. She has provided training sessions for the German International School of Silicon Valley, Applied Materials, and General Electric. Michelle has also provided her insights and college tips in numerous articles for hercampus.com.

My Philosophy

“I bring my creative touch, attention to detail, and years of experience to your teen’s college application journey. Applying to college can feel overwhelming at first, but the process was created to help students reflect on their interests and passions so they can imagine, plan, and achieve their educational goals. I help my students identify their values and tell their personal stories. The end result is genuine growth and insight that they are proud of.”
